President Johnson Sirleaf Arrives in Israel

Jerusalem, Israel - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has arrived in Jerusalem, Israel, at the start of a four day state visit.
 
The Liberian leader is expected to hold talks geared towards strengthening bilateral ties with Israel. During the visit, she will meet with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

President Johnson Sirleaf is also expected to visit Yad Vashem Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Memorial of the Holocaust and lay a wreath on the gravesite of slain former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
 
The President is at the head of a high-powered delegation which includes Defense Minister Brownie Samukai; Agriculture Minister Dr. J. Chris Toe; Lands, Mines and Energy Minister Dr. Eugene Shannon; Deputy Foreign Minister Krubo Kollie and Mother Esther Nyemah, Religious Advisor to the President.
